Corona, Honey and Immunity

Who would have known this time last year that the world as we know it and mankind would be in the middle of a pandemic which has ultimately changed us.

From lockdowns, social distancing and how to interact with others to placing more emphasis on our lifestyles.

Corona Virus was stated as a pandemic by The World Health Organisation (WHO) in March 12th 2020.

The Novel Corona Virus disease causes 'Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome' (SARS), in short it affects the lungs and breathing and can lead to organ damage and death.  It has now mutated and evolved into various types.  All mutations of the Virus attack the immune system.

Those most at risk from coronavirus are those with compromised immune systems, such as the elderly and those with existing health conditions

At the time of writing this blog the total number of Worldwide cases had exceeded 103 million out of which 2.22 million were fatal.

The nature of the virus and its rapid spread is a major concern, some figures put cases in the UK as stating 1 in 20 people may be affected by the virus.

There has also been much hysteria caused by developments in vaccines to protect against the virus effectively creating two camps, pro-vaccine and antivaccine lobbyists.

Many businesses have also jumped on the bandwagon taking advantage of consumer interest in natural remedies, increasing prices and making unfounded claims of their products.

Raw Honey has been demonstrated as a potent antimicrobial, antifungal and antiviral in many research investigations and has been considered as a good alternative for antiviral drugs for the treatment of some viral infections.

The immune system is a complex network of cells and proteins that defends the body against infection it is the body's natural "defence" mechanism.  It is the organs and processes within the body that protect the body against disease-causing foreign bacteria and viruses.

How do we strengthen the Immune System?

  1. Eat a balanced diet high in fruits and vegetables.
  2. Exercise regularly.
  3. Maintain a healthy weight.
  4. Drink a minimum 2 litres of water daily.
  5. Get adequate sleep (7-9 hours for adults).
  6. Take steps to avoid infection, such as washing your hands frequently and cooking meats thoroughly.

On the other hand there are a number of things that weaken the body's immunity, including:

- Poor diet rich in processed foods,
- Too little or no exercise,
- Eating too much sugar,
- Taking antibiotics frequently,
- Stress

In summary lifestyle and diet are the two crucial areas that must be addressed if we are to maintain a strong defence and immune system.

In terms of diet as stated in the list above natural foods such as fresh fruits and vegetables are core and highly recommended by all nutritionists because they contain nutrients that nourish the body.

Raw Honey is a natural food that is far beyond other foods when it comes to nourishing and strengthening the body's immunity.  When we say 'Raw' it must be unprocessed i.e. not pasteurised or fine filtered.

There simply is no other food in existence that contains the number of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, enzymes, prebiotics, flavonoids and other living nutrients that raw organic honey contains.

The best way to add Raw Honey to your daily diet is by taking a teaspoon of honey mixed in a glass of warm water and to drink 30 minutes before breakfast, this can help strengthen your immunity in as little as four weeks.

Together with numerous lab tests, mention in Holy scriptures and trial and use over centuries Raw Honey really is special and will help boost your immune system if taken regularly.
